I harvested some more cucurbits earlier today. These plants seem to be growing really quickly, with fruit ready to pick every couple of days.

Here's a close-up of the Eight Ball Zucchini. I've never grown this unusual variety before, so it'll be interesting to see what they taste like.

Hi. Just came upon your blog and good to see how productive your veg patch is! I'm interested - how did the Eight Ball taste? I considered growing some this year but chickened out so it'd be good to hear what you thoughts about them.
Hi Peta,
Apologies for the late reply.
The Eight Ball tasted quite nice, although I didn't do anything fancy with them other than simply oven roasting with olive oil and herbs.
Because of their shape these would be ideal for stuffing. Here's a simple recipe which I might try next year:

The best thing about this particular variety is that it's quite a compact little plant, and doesn't spread all over like the other cucurbits.
I'd certainly recommend giving these a go next year, especially if you're stuck for space.
